INSTALLING SQL 2008 EXPRESS
This Tech Tip shows the steps necessary to download the SQL 2008 Express to be used with Oracle|Primavera P6 and Contract Management deployments. Go to Microsoft and search for SQL 2008 Express. Before starting, confirm whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. Note: This Tech Tip gives instructions for installing SQL 2008 Express for the first time.
1. Click Download SQL2008 Express (note 32 or 64 bit OS).
2. Double click on SQL Express 2008
5. Click New SQL server install
8. Click the Accept Terms box and then click Next
11. Select Database Engine Services box and select SQL Client Connectivity SDK box
12. Click Default instance
13. Click Next
15. Click NETWORK SERVICE from the dropdown menu under Account Name
16. Click Next
17. Click Mixed Mode
NOTE: Enter a strong password; this is the password for your SA account
18. Click Add Current User
19. Click Next
21. Click Install (may take 5-10 minutes)
24. You now have SQL 2008 installed. Now you must configure it.
25. Browse to SQL configuration manager located at:
Start-> All Programs ->SQL Server 2008 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Configuration Manager
26. Expand SQL Server Network Configuration and Click on Protocols for SQL EXPRESS
27. RIGHT CLICK on Named Pipes and Click Enable
27. RIGHT CLICK TCP/IP and go to Properties
28. Change Enabled to Yes
30. On the IP Tab, ensure that TCP Port is set to 1433
31. Click OK
33. Click on SQL Server Services
34. Click on SQL Server (SQEXPRESS)
35. Hit RESTART
36. Now RESTART the computer.
SQL SERVER IS NOW CONFIGURED FOR USE WITH P6 or CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
